"The autumn leaves of red and gold" is a lyrical line from one of my favorite songs, Autumn Leaves. There are countless iterations of that song but Eva Cassidy's version stands above them all.
These autumn leaves were not drifting by my window, but carpeting the forest floor, and dressing the branches of the trees in royal colors. This was taken at Devil's Lake, near Madison, Wisconsin.
